Description

Hey world!

Meet Lisa Harms. . . my most loyal fan, and the best helper and photographer I've ever had at any of my book signings!

And yes (to answer what must CERTAINLY be in the minds of every young gentleman out there), Lisa is as cute, playful and fun-loving in person as she looks to be in this picture.  However, be warned boys, Lisa's also about as smart as they come!  In fact, her writing is so good, I plan to have one of her short stories in my "Tales of Terror" section very soon!

Lisa, thank you for everything.  I mean that.

Young authors' workshop.  Teri Starkebaum (the head librarian) told me a few weeks before this event that I wouldn't be able to hold the attention of these kids very long.  About an hour later we were still going strong, and Teri had to stop us so I could sign some books!

(LOL!  Hey, Teri!  What can I say?  It was easy talking to them because I'm just a big kid myself!)

Another picture of the young authors' workshop.
Gee, would you just look at all those "GoodYear" and "Fleet of Angels" hats!

The Short Story Contest Winner!

Ryan Helfer!!

Look for Ryan's story in the "Tales of Terror" section very soon!  Ryan also got his picture in the paper with me in the Haxtun-Fleming Herald on Wednesday, July 9th.

Way to go, Ryan!  That's what writing is all about!

The head librarian, Teri Starkebaum, turned out to be the best organizer a writer could ever hope for.  Without her attention to detail, dedication towards helping the children, and a will to help the Haxtun community . . . none of this would have taken place.
This fantastic newspaper publisher, Jean Gray, is just about the perfect image of what a newspaper publisher should be.  She is strong-willed, intelligent as hell, and she's not afraid to do the right thing even at the risk of public criticism.

Jean, you're about as perfect as they come, and I just LOVE that attitude of yours!  Don't you ever change, darlin'!

Teri Starkebaum & Jean Gray . . . again, two outstanding ladies in every respect.

The Mayor of Haxtun, Colorado

Gay McDaniel

Gay, you said it was an honor to meet me...  No, Ma'am.  The honor was all mine.

Hannah Conklin . . . the shyest young lady I've ever had the pleasure of sharing my knowledge with.  I met her parents the following afternoon at the town picnic, and I just happened to mention how shy and quiet their daughter was . . . uh, they didn't agree with me.  :)

Everything considered, this turned out to be one of the best book signings I've ever had.  Truth be known, I believe the entire town of Haxtun, Colorado is filled with some of the nicest (and the most warm-hearted) people in the world.  I really can't think of anywhere else in the world I would rather spend my vacations, and if things go as planned . . . that will be my home sometime in the future.

Everyone, I'm being entirely truthful when I say there can't POSSIBLY be a better place in the world to raise a child than the Haxtun and Holyoke areas of Colorado.  Heck, if Lisa Harms and the children who attended the young authors' workshop were any example of the way kids turn out . . . WOW!
